... to the project website U.A.H.G. - Urban Alternative Hitch-hiker's Guidebook!!!
This is a website dedicated to the project (created by Die Leere zine from Poland) with the name UAHG. Its main aim is to facilitate hitch-hikers moving through cities and between their main outlet ways.
THE CONTENT OF U.A.H.G.
Therefore most important item should be information on how to get from one to another road in a best way in any combinations* - including: a) the worst variant - we were let off at one of them; and/or - b) we are starting from town centre ( the central railway station is most important, but other stations may interest travellers making use of hitch-hiking only in part). The choice of an option certainly depends on many practical circumstances - e.g. variant a) is better as far as big cities are concerned, variant b) - for towns.
Data should contain: numbers of transport, places where one has to change bus/streetcar, travel time, information on tickets etc (to make it easier - we can provide the interested with example elaborations).
* some arrangements you can miss out, so you should guide yourself by traveller's logic...
THE PART OF PRACTICAL-RECREATIONAL ISSUES
Because hitch-hikers (at least "true") are usually people with nonconventional likings and thin wallets, except for strict communication help, the guidebook should be enriched with some practical information for people planning to stay longer (e.g. database, approach to...) and subjective assesments concerning:
- gastronomy - where one can eat cheaply, vegebars...
- "underground" side - squats, clubs, infoshops...
- acommodations - above all cheaply!
- alternative tourism - alternative places and forms of resting
- purchases and usefully services - second-hands, antiques; internet-cafe...
There are also "perles" of great importance, such as: town regions not safe to turn there up. Other suggestions will be welcomed (The list of them & opinions on this project you can submit on forum's proper field).
CREATE OF U.A.H.G.!
We turn to all (hitch-hikers and only) with request for help in data gaining. It's worth to emphasize that websites of city transport companies may be very helpful source of information. But, without no doubt, it is vital to have a command of our own towns. Thus, participation of inhabitants of all greater towns in a country, where the project is run, is of so great importance.
I. TOWN/CITY [main connotations in dependance from its specifics; etimology of the name, location a. s. o. ]
II. HISTORY OF UNDERGROUND CULTURE [shortly]
III. INFORMATION FOR TRAVELLERS [on ways going through the town and where do they go to]
IV. TRAFFIC SERVICE [some info on tickets, tickets controllers, website...]
V. TRAVELLING [so the most important part - guidebook of main city's/town's ways]
VI. PRACTICAL INFORMATIONS:
2. Night accomodation
4. Alternative tourism
5. Purchases and useful services
+ fotos [facultetively]
Attention! There, we are looking for people, who would arrange coordination of the action in their own country.
